Casual Fine Dining at St. Michael 6003
From the guardian angel outside to the barbed wire light fittings inside, it all speaks casual and even grunge. Yet, the food is high end and high tech.
Although they do not yet have a website, their Twitter feed displays photos of many gastronomic delights. The menu they posted shows an amazing array of dishes. The Chef’s menu will set you back $89 a head, while they offer $49 for any three dishes on the menu and $12 per dish thereafter.
In their starter “bites” they have salmon pastrami with sauerkraut and yoghurt, house-cured meats, smoked pork hock with piccalilli and parmesan, or bread with lavosh and butter.
Their main menu includes lamb belly with mandarin and pickled yabbies, marron with mushroom dashi and turnips, and roast cauliflower with capers, jalapeño and manchego. Other mains feature celeriac, quail, scallops, wagyu, trout and bacon.
Their dessert menu is equally intricate, the simplest being a fruit salad with yoghurt and herbs. There’s also parsnip, honey and cornflake crunch and several other desserts to cleanse your palate after such an amazing meal.
Possibly the most invigorating dining pleasure at St. Michael would be the “7 course Chef’s Tasting Menu” with matching wines.
The décor may be “grunge,” but their food is anything but! Delight your taste-buds with a fabulous meal at St. Michael.
